During the warmer season a number of possibilities are on offer. The Gribelehof lies on the Schlossberg near Lienz and is the perfect starting location for exploring the mountains of East Tirol or discovering the side streets of the capital city.

BRUCK CASTLE
5 minutes from the Gribelehof
This gothic castle was built on a hill nestled on the Hochstein mountain of Lienz. The Count Görz resided in the castle into the 15th century. It is now home to the cities museum with a collection of paintings from the famous East Tirolean artist Albin Egger-Lienz.
OSTIRODLER
10 minutes from the Gribelehof
Adrenalin, action and adventure are guaranteed with a ride on the alpine coaster of the Lienzer cable car. This spectacular run twists and turns through 2,7 kilometres on green forest. Children between 3 and 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult, from 8 years upwards you can experience the journey into the valley unaccompanied.
ROMAN CITY AGUNTUM
Only 10 minutes from the Gribelehof
Aguntum was a Roman city, which is located approximately 4 kilometres from Lienz in the present day county of Dölsach. Archaeological excavations have been taking place here since 1912 and are constantly making new discoveries. An 18m high viewing tower offers an ideal overview of the excavation site.

In the evenings you can safely park your motorbike in our private car park and enjoy culinary delights from the host Michael’s kitchen.
HIKING
up the Hochstein
The hike up the Hochstein starts directly at the hotel: the Hochstein Hut at 2023 metres belongs to the Austrian Alpine club-section Lienz and is loved by hikers, mountain climbers and cyclists alike. The quaint hut offers an amazing view of the Lienzer dolomites and the valley below.

This swimming lake is approximately 4 Kilometres away from Lienz. This natural swimming lake also has a small children’s playground.

The Dolomitenbad in Lienz is a swimming pool for the whole family: The perfect place for children to splash about while the adults can relax in the Sauna world. Not only on dull days do parents and children enjoy a days swimming in water temperatures of 28 to 29 degrees.
GALITZEN GORGE
On the river Leisach
Coming from Lienz in the direction of Pustertal, shortly after the village Leisach surrounded by high rock faces is the opening of the gorge. On route you experience the force of the Galitzen river: The imposing gorge is safe to walk through and offers breathtaking views of roaring waterfalls.

The Hohe Tauern National Park is 1.800 km² making it the largest National Park in the Alps. It stretches over the provinces of Tirol, Salzburg and Carinthia. There are hundreds of well-marked paths throughout the 13 valleys within the National Park
GROSSGLOCKNER
48 kilometre long mountain pass
The high mountain pass branches at the village of Kals/Burg into the Ködnitz valley. At the foot of the Großglockner, Austria’s highest mountain, experience the diverse fauna and flora, from wildly romantic to simply beautiful. The winding road has a 10 percent gradient at around 1.920 metres above sea level.
